Some people are facing a bit of trouble with their In Rainbows download and have been requesting for help. Well as someone who has been through the experience, I can assure you that you're not the only one (do I hear sighs of relief?) and sometimes it's not really your fault. If you haven't ordered your download yet, try this post I wrote earlier for step-by-step instructions. Otherwise, here are some tips for coaxing the In Rainbows download into your harddisk.
- If you haven't received your email, check your spam folder. Many email accounts, whether free or paid, have a bulk/spam folder. Mail considered to be spam will sometimes be automatically be moved into that folder. What you're looking for is email sent by downloadinrainbowsATwaste.uk.com (replace AT with @). If you can't find any email from them, I guess you just have to be patient. :)
- Download at an offpeak period. Just 4 - 5 hours ago, there were reports of a password being required to access the InRainbows site. This was probably enforced to reduce the amount of traffic on the server. However, while writing this post, I had no problem entering the site, adding the download and reaching the new user screen. (I stopped there since I had no intention of contributing to the problem.)
- Download the zip file normally with your browser, don't use a download accelerator. Download accelerators send multiple requests to the server in order to speed up your downloads. This could be viewed by the server as multiple attempts to download In Rainbows, especially if you have a dynamic IP address.
- If your download stalls and you can't re-download the file, contact downloadinrainbowsATwaste.uk.com (replace AT with @). They will reply with a new download link for you to try out. From their replies, it looks like real, live people are manning the support email. So you have to be patient. For me, I only had to wait about 3 hours for a new working download link. And if you're lucky, you'll get 2 replies instead of one. (I just received another email from them 6 hours ago with yet another download link. Thanks guys, the first reply you sent worked well.)
